Previously known as the Border Motor Racing Club from 1956, the Scottish Motor Racing Club (SMRC) has existed in its present form since 1963 and celebrated its 50th Anniversary in 2006. The SMRC have over the years run motor racing events at Charterhall, Ingliston and presently at Knockhill. The Club's previous Presidents were Reg Parnell, Jim Clark and Jackie Stewart. Appointed on 1st December 2007, Allan McNish is honoured and proud to take over from Sir Jackie to represent Scotland in the motorsport world.

Allan is a member of the British Racing Drivers Club. Founded in 1928, the club now boasts over 900 members, with it's key aims to promote the interests of motor sport generally, to celebrate specific performance in motor sport, to extend hospitality to racing drivers from overseas, and to further the interests of British drivers competing abroad.
