"In the 1989 British F3 Championship, David Brabham was my main competitor with Jewson backing on the side of his car. In fact, I saw that logo at close quarters most of the year as we had some amazing wheel to wheel battles. Since 2004 they are back in the sport with two programmes, in Sportscar racing with myself and my Audi Le Mans and American Le Mans Series campaign but are also looking to the future in karting with an up and coming star, Lyndsay Butcher creating a staircase of talent. In fact, they are doing as just as they do in business, to create solid foundations and then place the building blocks for success on top. That is how they became "No. 1 building supplier in the UK."

Jewson stocks an extensive range of products - from everyday core building essentials, through to the latest innovations from all the leading brands. Our range is significantly broader than most people appreciate. We provide all the products you would expect from a builders' merchant including timber and generalist building materials, roofing and insulation, through to kitchens and bathrooms, plumbing and heating equipment, landscaping materials and tools including a tool hire facility.

Sustainability issues including minimising our impact on the environment, are at the centre of our operation and we are committed to the delivery of key performance targets covering areas such as waste management, energy usage and carbon emissions. As the UK's largest importer of timber and timber products, we are also committed to increasing the level of Chain of Custody certified timber products we offer and now have over 130 branches that provide this service. The ISO 14001 environmental standard, gained through the implementation and operation of a formal environmental management system, is also being rolled out across the company.

Jewson and our sister companies in the UK are immensely proud of the work carried out by ‘together', a group project supported across our businesses and jointly by our suppliers to raise money for the nominated charity. To date, we have raised over £1m benefiting charities such as Wish Upon a Star, Great Ormond St, Cancer Research UK and the British Heart Foundation. At a local level, we actively support local community projects donating time and materials such as paints, timber and surplus stock.
