Arai
I have been using Arai helmets for the last 15 years of my career, throughout F3000, Sportscars and F1, and will again this year, whether it is the Le Mans 24 Hours or Sebring 12 Hours, the Le Mans Series or riding my motorbike for fun.
A helmet is a very personal thing for most drivers. It is the most visible part of a driver when they are in the car, so the helmet and paint design reflect the personality of the driver and is much more than a piece of safety equipment.
Personally, I wear an ARAI GP5 painted by Mike Fairholme Designs. He has always been able to replicate the McNish tartan and my design every time, no mean feat I can tell you!!!!
Between them, they have added some nice touches like fluorescent lines on my tartan design that stand out at night and a perfectly fitting inside lining for excellent comfort over a 24 Hour race.
Talking of cool designs, in 2007 I visited the Isle of Man TT races, the 100th anniversary of the race and also got my hands on one of the ARAI limited edition TT anniversary bike helmets, a helmet to keep.
