Dumfries-born Allan McNish drove an Audi R15 TDI sportscar at the Goodwood Festival of Speed last weekend (3 July). It was the same diesel-engined car that the Scotsman had swept to third place in the Le Mans 24 Hours last month (12-13 June) with co-drivers Dindo Capello (Italy) and Tom Kristensen (Denmark).

When Graham, one of my partners, produced a 6 foot high Allan for their UK in store promotion, I never thought he would turn up and party at Le Mans with the Daily Sportscar guys, never mind be signed by all drivers from the 2010 Le Mans grid and this year there were some real stars including;

Stranraer Academy and Annan Academy have gained success at this years Formula Schools national schools competition.Stranraer in only their second year in the competition have grabbed the overall championship trophy. The points gained from engineering put the team in the top five but a fair gap behind past champions Serlby Park. But absolute domination at race day allowed the team get the F1-style 25 points for winning race day to catch and pass the opposition and to gain a two point advantage overall.
