McNish Welcomes Scotland's Special Olympics to Monaco

Scotland’s Allan McNish has welcomed his country’s “Special Olympics” soccer team to his adopted “home” of Monaco.
The Dumfries-born race ace who bids for a third Le Mans 24 Hour race victory next month was on hand to show the Scotland soccer team around the Stadium Louis II in the Principality of Monaco where the three-day event begins today.
"I am pleased that Scotland is here in Monaco competing in the Special Olympics and I found the players to be rightly proud of representing our country, it was really nice to meet the team and witness their enthusiasm for the competition,” commented McNish who begins his Le Mans countdown by racing his diesel-engined Audi in Belgium this weekend (9 May).
“I’m competing in my last race before Le Mans on Sunday but my son, Finlay, has already told me he wants to watch the soccer matches and support Graeme [Lang], Steven [George], Craig [Sharratt], Gavin [Maule] plus either Craig Tyson or Terry Gray, who are the coaches, in the five-a-side games instead of watching me on television and quite right too - go for it boys!”
Prince Albert of Monaco is Honorary President of the Special Olympics that offers over 30 Olympic-type individual and team sports that provide meaningful training and competition opportunities for persons with intellectual disabilities.
