Scottish racing legend Allan McNish has today become an Ambassador of the Bone Steelers Rugby team, ahead of their participation at this year's Dubai Sevens.
The Scottish based side will compete in the VETS tournament from December 3-5 and will be sponsored by OKI Printing Solutions, Bone Steel, Eden Park, Hogmaneigh.com and Henderson International Group.
39-year-old McNish, who has been racing since the age of 11 has progressed up the motorsport ladder during an illustrious career. Having started in karting, he then progressed through the junior formula, Formula 3, Formula 3000 en route to Sportscar racing, Le Mans 24 Hours and F1.
He was on the starting grid for Toyota's F1 debut on 3 March 2002 following his appointment as the team's development driver the previous year.
McNish, who has become one of the world's most highly rated sportscar drivers, took his Porsche AG car to victory in the 1998 24 Hours Le Mans and then triumphed again in 2008 in an Audi R10 TDI.
The Bone Steelers have brought together some of the biggest names in Scottish rugby this year - including Gregor Townsend, Andy Nicol, Rowen Shepherd, Jim McLaren and Glenn Metcalfe.
And while they are in Dubai the squad will be helping to raise money for The Bone Steelers Foundation, which this year will be supporting Lance Armstrong's Livestrong charity.
The Bone Steelers are delighted to have fellow Scot Allan on board to help with their ongoing charity work.
Colin Bone, Founder of the Bone Steelers said today: "Allan is a legend in his sport and we are delighted to have his backing as we prepare the Bone Steelers for what is building up to be a fantastic occasion."
From his home in Monaco Allan McNish added: "It is an honour to become an Ambassador of the Bone Steelers. I used to watch a lot of these guys play and it will be fascinating to see how they get on in the Dubai event."
